Meeting Katie Couric!

During my recent trip to NYC for the BlogHer Business conference, I enjoyed meeting my fellow bloggers from the New York City Moms Blog.  It's fun to put faces to the posts!

The highlight of my trip was a meetup with Katie Couric.  Yes, the Katie Couric who anchors the CBS Evening News.  I have to say, she is a smart, kind, energetic and down-to-earth woman.

Ms. Couric invited the moms from the Silicon Valley Moms Blog, NYC Moms Blog, DC Metro Moms Blog and Chicago Moms Blog for a tour of the studio and a private meeting in her office. It was so wonderful to meet and engage with the ultimate (and uber-successful) working mom.

My friends at LTDchix.com

The ladies of LTDchix.com (Living the Dream Chix) have launched some new T-shirts that are just adorable.  Hit the Web site to explore and order your shirts.  My favorites image is to the left. 

I think I should order the Working Mom T-shirt... I certainly can understand the laptop in hand and kid under foot.

It's worth noting, I love the Fitness T-shirt -- do you think they actually liked one of my ideas? (Of course, I called it "Dusty Treadmill Mom" because my treadmill doesn't get used enough!)

Regardless, love the shirts and just recommend you order a size larger than you normally order.

If you don't already read the blog, it's smartly written, pretty funny and refreshingly honest.  The tag line says it all:  "'cause sometimes chocolate brownies just won't do the trick." I love a mommy who isn't afraid to admit she needs some liquid therapy every now and then.

The blog also offers some great (and hilarious) gear for moms and moms-to-be.  (Yes, a "Mommy Needs a Cocktail" shot glass graces my desk at work!)  The T-shirts are great, such as "yes, I do know how this happens" for the moms and "drinking for two" for the dads. And now, there is a contest to find new slogans for the Baby Brewing maternity shirts. Food, Friends and a Major Celebrity Sighting!

Many thanks to our new friends at Graco Baby, who hosted a fantastic afternoon get-together at the Four Seasons in Palo Alto, CA for the Silicon Valley Moms Blog. The festivities included good friends, wine, sushi and hand massages.  (Sigh!)

Of course, this group of mommybloggers also got a sneak-peek at the new Sweet Peace newborn soothing center.   My little one just turned three, but I can certainly remember the value of a good swing-type device when you have a crabby newborn and tired mommy in the same house.  We had a big clunky swing (that my husband and I valued at about $10,000), and the new Graco soothing center is much more compact. 

Of course, not to out-shine the super-nice people from Graco, I have to brag about my major celebrity sighting at the Four Seasons.  As I was waiting for the valet to return my car, I spotted Michelle Pfeiffer and David E. Kelley driving into the lot!  WOW!  (For what it's worth, I called Beth B. to give the remaining SVMB ladies and Graco peeps a head's up; I hope you got the message!)

Dunder Mifflin Schwag at Target

Props to Whitney at Pop Candy and the folks at OfficeTally for letting us know that Dunder Mifflin schwag is now for sale at Target. How great is that?  I personally think Dwight Bobbleheads will make great stocking-stuffers this holiday season!

Of course, we can always pick up an "I heart Jim" T-shirt at the NBC site.

Hairspray: You Can't Stop the Beat
