HP's Kung Fu Panda Party

My family recently was treated to a wonderful afternoon with my fellow Silicon Valley Moms Blog writers and folks from HP, who were introducing us to the new Dreamworks movie Kung Fu Panda. 

The party was fun for kids of all ages who spent the time:

-- Snacking on mini-grilled cheese sandwiches;

-- Learning how to pick up gummy bears with chopsticks;

-- Making beautiful boxes and other art projects out of colorfully printed paper;

-- Dancing to the famous song "Kung Fu Fighting" (I really wanted to give it a whirl, but was afraid my fellow bloggers would put a video on YouTube... they've done it before!);

-- Enjoying face (and arm) painting;

-- Playing Kung Fu Panda video games;

-- Making Po the Panda masks;

--  And, oh yes, we let our kid have chocolate milk!  (Sweet Heaven!)

Thank you, TNT and TBS!

If you watch Law & Order like I do, you have spent many hours in front of TNT.  (They know drama!)  Needless to say, I was thrilled to receive a care-package from TNT and TBS last week.

I opened up a brightly colored box to find a Pajama Gram!  There was cool, wire-frame hat box filled with goodies, including a cozy pajamas and some original TNT and TBS programs.  I am excited to announce that my video library now includes episodes of The Closer, Saving Grace, My Boys, and The Bill Engvall Show.

I tell you what, the timing is perfect. I recently used Facebook and Twitter to share the frustrations of a TV-blogger with nothing for blogging inspiration.  Well, I am thankful to have new shows for watching, blogging and obsessing!  I love (and appreciate) television shows about strong and smart women, and I'm quite certain Holly Hunter and Kyra Sedgwick will not disappoint!

"The Mom Blogs" on the Today Show

You might already know that I met Katie Couric during my recent trip to NYC for BlogHer 2008.  But you might not know that I also attended a party to celebrate the launch of the New York City Moms Blog.  Even cooler is that the Today Show filmed a segment on Moms who blog, so producers attended the party to get to know some actual mommybloggers.  Yes, they brought a film crew, and if you look really carefully, you can see my back for about 2 seconds!

My fellow Silicon Valley Moms Blog writer (and friend) Jill Asher is featured in the segment, as is my friend Lindsey Lebresco from the Graco Blog.  Here's the clip:

Six-month Sabbatical

Sigh, NO I am not taking a six-month sabbatical.  The last time I took extended time-off was for maternity leave, and we ALL know that is no vacation.  Wonderful and amazing time off, but not a vacation. 

So, I am happy to share a blog that recaps a recent sabbatical for my friend (and former client) Ryan Rigoli.  Ryan traveled throughout Central and South America, click HERE to read all about his amazing adventures.

I'm going to Graceland...

I'll be offline for a few days.  I am taking my mom to Graceland for her birthday.  It's a life-long dream of hers.  I fully expect tears.

For those of you who love Dixie's American Idol recaps, I am taking my laptop so I can get her posts up as soon as possible.  Next week is Andrew Lloyd-Weber week, so I will be in Broadway Heaven!

In the meantime, wish me luck as I fly American Airlines.  I'll be wearing my Blue Suede Shoes!

Meeting Katie Couric! (Katie's post and video)

I blogged over the weekend how I was lucky enough to meet Katie Couric while in NYC last week.  Well, Ms. Couric shared the love and wrote about our meeting on her CBS Blog; the post is cleverly titled "Meet the Parents (Who Blog)!"  Katie and crew also posted a video of the events on the Katie Couric YouTube Channel.  Yes, that is me shaking Katie's hand and hanging out in her office.  How cool is that?
